Thursday, July 4
Salem Celebrates the Fourth, 4 to 10 p.m., Salem Maritime Historic Site, Derby Wharf. Festivities begin with the opening of Kids’ Space, featuring face painting, games, crafts and prizes for children, and live music from Britannica followed by Julie Dougherty. Opening ceremonies at 7:15 p.m., followed by a performance by the Hillyer Festival Orchestra; fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. 978-745-9595 or www.salem.com.
Marblehead Fireworks and Harbor Illumination 2013, 8:45 p.m., around perimeter of Marblehead Harbor. Flares will be lit around the perimeter of the harbor for the Harbor Illumination at 8:45 p.m. About 9 p.m., fireworks will be launched off a barge at the mouth of the harbor. Public viewing at Fort Sewall, Chandler Hovey Park and Crocker Park. For details, including parking and traffic tips, visit http://www.marbleheadfireworks.org/.
Beverly Farms Shoreline Illumination & Fireworks, 9 p.m., West Beach. Tickets for the Farms-Prides Fireworks are available for $10 before July 4 at Farms-Prides merchants or $15 at the gate on July 4. General admission begins at 5 p.m. for those who are not members of West Beach. No parking at the beach; parking is limited along local streets. Alcohol, fireworks, glass containers and coolers are not allowed, and all bags are subject to search on entry. Rain date, July 5. For more information, visit www.beverlyfarms.org.
