Ladies Auxiliary VFW Cancer Grant

Cancer Grants

After one year of continuous membership, members who must undergo chemotherapy and other procedures to fight cancer are eligible for a grant to help cover expenses. There is a limit of two grants per lifetime and the grants must be at least 12 months apart. This is not related to the Cancer Insurance offered by some Auxiliaries.
Members or Auxiliary Treasurers needing a supply of Cancer Grant applications may contact National Headquarters by calling (816) 561-8655 or by e-mailing
benefits@ladiesauxvfw.org.

VA Memorial Benefits

http://www.cem.va.gov/cem/features.asp#4

NCA created a webpage to enable funeral directors to quickly find the most pertinent information to help families plan burials and apply for VA memorial benefits. It provides information about eligibility, benefits and services, VA forms, and features four videos on casket and cremain services offered with and without military funeral honors. The videos are narrated in English and Spanish and show what a family can expect on the day of their loved-one's funeral at a VA national cemetery.

There are also quick links to download VA forms for ordering headstones and markers, the bronze medallion, the Presidential Memorial Certificate, and other benefits.

Wreaths Across America

2013 Wreaths Across America Ceremonies

This is the eighth year of Wreaths Across America, a nationwide program which distributes holiday wreaths as a tribute to Veterans laid to rest at VA national cemeteries and state Veterans cemeteries. It is also the 22nd year that the Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine, will send holiday wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery. Through this program, company president Morrill Worcester seeks to recognize Veterans, active duty military and their families. His goal is to remind the public to remember the Veterans, honor their service, and teach children the value of freedom.
The Civil Air Patrol organizes the wreath-laying ceremonies with assistance from local citizens and Veterans service organizations. All 131 VA national cemeteries receive at least seven wreaths, one for each service branch, one for the Merchant Marine and one for Prisoners of War and those Missing In Action (POW/MIA).

This listing is in alphabetic order by state. Select the name of the state in which the cemetery is located. Please note that there is not a VA national cemetery in every state.

As part of “Hire A Veteran Month,” the Patrick Administration is collaborating with regional workforce partners on a series of events, career fairs, and training sessions that will take place in every region of the Commonwealth throughout November (see full list).

Last week, the Patrick Administration announced it has more than doubled cash grants available to employers hiring Massachusetts veterans regardless through the state’s Hiring Incentive Training Grant program. Any for-profit company and non-profit organization that contributes to the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund are encouraged to apply. Eligible employers may now apply for grants of $5,000 for each new hire who meets the Hiring Incentive Training Grant program requirements. Employers may receive up to $75,000 each calendar year. Upon approval, payment will be available to the employer once the new hire has retained employment for at least 120 days.
